Ataraxia Perfumery My Doll\u2019s Makeup (Extrait de Parfum) is a strange and beautiful portrait of childhood, viewed through the distorted mirror of memory. The fragrance was created by perfumer Sy Truong; it draws on the familiar atmosphere of a porcelain doll, a dressing table, and a handful of colorful cosmetics, then subtly breaks through the sense that something has changed beneath the perfect surface.<\/p>\n

The opening of My Doll\u2019s Makeup is wonderfully tactile. Cool porcelain meets the juicy, tart flavor of raspberry, while lipstick, iris, and sparkling soda bubbles create a striking contrast between powder and radiance. At first, it seems almost innocent: rosy cheeks, sweet lip balm, the excitement of playing with someone else\u2019s makeup.<\/p>\n

In Ataraxia Perfumery\u2019s My Doll\u2019s Makeup, the powdery notes deepen as the fragrance reaches its heart. Orris root lends the perfume its luxurious, velvety texture, surrounded by the creamy accords of blush, beeswax, and white chocolate. The sweet notes remain understated; My Doll\u2019s Makeup does not become a gourmand fragrance, but rather evokes a dry, cosmetic sensation, as if we were opening an old makeup bag that has been untouched for years.<\/p>\n

In the base notes, the perfume further enhances the illusion. Vanilla and strawberry blend with accords of lip gloss, eyeliner, and makeup palettes, while an instant film accord evokes faded photographs. Myrrh casts a darker shadow over it all.<\/p>\n

My Doll\u2019s Makeup is powdery and fruity, yet deeply nostalgic: raspberry lipstick, porcelain skin, wax, iris, and forgotten photographs. Something beautiful that has remained from childhood, yet memory has altered it, and the doll looking back somehow no longer shows quite the same face.<\/p>\n
