SIAM1928 – olfactive heritage since 1928
SIAM1928 has its roots in the humble yet revered tradition of perfumery in Thailand. Founded in a small shop called Thippaya O-Sotsathan, the brand started with ‘Nam-Ob Prung Chaokhun’, a sacred Thai perfume used in Buddhist rituals and traditional blessings. Present in over 100 stores in Thailand, it has earned its place as a symbol of good fortune, purity and spiritual well-being. Crafted without animal-derived ingredients using recipes handed down to us for over 90 years, the iconic fragrance continues to be a cherished part of Thai culture. In 2019, the family heritage has evolved into a modern, niche perfume house under Thippaya O-Sotsathan Co, Ltd, run by Karnchana and Nutt Wesshasartar, the third and fourth generations of this heritage, respectively.
SIAM1928 Perfume philosophy
Every bottle of SIAM1928 is born from the brand’s core philosophy: the art of seduction. Drawing inspiration from Thai poetry, folklore, legends and history, each perfume is a sensual story expressed in scent and poetic verse. These fragrant narratives are not just perfumes – they are cultural expressions captured in time. Handmade perfumes combine more than 50 ingredients that evoke emotions and memories. Each scent note has been carefully selected to pay homage to Thailand’s botanical richness and heritage. The scents are infused with traditional Thai perfume water, infused with the soul of the earth using incense and candle techniques, creating an unmistakable aura of authenticity.
Perfume bottles rooted in Thai craftsmanship
SIAM1928’s visual identity is as sophisticated as the art of perfume. His unique ceramic bottles are inspired by the traditional blue and white ceramics once used in Thai perfume-making rituals. Made from an international blend of premium-quality clays, including New Zealand kaolin and Japanese feldspar, the bottles are repeatedly fired and decorated with genuine gold stickers. In addition to its beauty, the ceramic material serves an important purpose: it protects the perfume from intense sunlight, thus preserving the fragrance it contains. Lightweight yet elegant, each bottle reflects meticulous craftsmanship down to a tolerance of 250 microns – form, function and heritage come together in a single collectible piece.
The future of the Thai perfume tradition
SIAM1928 not only preserves tradition, it rewrites it. As Thailand’s first niche perfume house to modernise a centuries-old practice, the brand is making Thai fragrances desirable on the world stage. With each fragrance, SIAM1928 invites the world to experience Thailand – not just as a destination, but as an essence.
