Description

Grandiflora Boronia Eau de Parfum is a beautifully sweet floral and woody fragrance inspired by the native Australian boronia flower – a rarity in modern perfumery. The perfume’s opening has the rounded sweetness of ripe fruits thanks to osmanthus, as well as the red berry syrupiness of cassis and freesia. Grandiflora Boronia is about how copious amounts of sun transforms the scents of nature’s botanics into a world dense in glowing resins. Summery immortelle and notes of intense, sunburnt hay hum together in a form of viscous vitamin D.

The honeyed depth of labdanum, slicked in the subtlest hint of smoke, thickens the arrangement into an olfactive ointment of warm, sticky amber. Continuing the journey of increasing textural density, Boronia turns to the mellow resonance of waxed woods during the drydown, evoking an image of delicate petal and berry layered over robust rosewood. Boronia’s base is a delicate perfumed carpentry of myrrh, caramel and tolu balsam.

Grandiflora Boronia is a complex interplay of textures and ingredients. In a beautiful way it highlights the delightful paradox of this native Australian wildflower. Despite its unpretentious nature it has a fragrance that is highly valued and memorably vivid. The existence of boronia is so unlikely, being pollinated by just one type of tiny, day-flying moth, which itself is dependent for survival on the flower – making it one of the world’s rarest botanical miracles. Thanks to master perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour, this is a perfume that captures both the mysterious ways of nature and the intricacy of human craftsmanship – a fragrance for the senses as well as for the engaged mind.
