Manos Gerakinis Anthem Eau de Parfum is the fragrance of freedom and independence where an interplay of spices, resins and florals form a beautifully complex amber for the mind, body and soul. Anthem brings the past into the future and unites the East with the West in its own distinctive way. The perfume’s inspiration comes from the Greek revolution in 1821. Ancient perfume materials such as labdanum, saffron and oud locate the scent’s olfactive universe firmly in the Eastern Mediterranean – the birthplace of Western democracy.

Top notes float in sparkling lemon lightness. This is the air of levity that captures the spirit of the now – the scintillating spark that incites revolutionaries to seize the moment. The gilded, feather-light opening rises up, Icarus-like, into the golden Greek sun. But, just like Icarus, the heady ascent into the liberating brightness heralds an inevitable freefall into the depths.

Manos Gerakinis Anthem is dense, meaningful and emotionally loaded. Shadowy contrasts of earthy patchouli and darkly resinous labdanum transmit a sense of cultural import. The layers of history are captured in spicy saffron with its musty, leather tones that recreate the dusty pages of the leather-bound volumes that make up our mythologies.

Yet, this is not just a fragrance of books and minds. Anthem’s central tenets are of beauty and they are proudly pronounced in its majestic floral heart. Ylang-ylang mixes with cinnamon and nutmeg for a classically exotic accord, while rose takes on the leathery facets to produce floral elegance. Geranium – citrus spice of the floral world – connects the heart with the heady lemon opening. All the while, the sweet resin and honeyed vanilla base offers a sticky medium for the petals to yield their perfumed poetry.

Manos Gerakinis Anthem is a layered message where top, heart and basenotes surge and swell into each other, blending into a scent of substance.
