Description
Maya Njie Voyeur Verde (Eau de Parfum) captures that strangely beautiful moment when nature reclaims what humans have left behind. Inspired by a photograph of an abandoned Mercedes overgrown with vegetation in the Spanish countryside, the fragrance evokes the dynamic way in which the greenery slowly spreads across the weathered leather and warm wood in the shade of Mediterranean cypress trees. There is something voyeuristic about this scene: observing a forgotten object as it slowly recedes into the landscape, where passing becomes renewal, and the boundary between the artificial and the natural quietly dissolves.
Voyeur Verde opens with radiant bergamot and mandarin, breaking through the dry, aromatic green mood of cypress. Soon, the fragrance becomes significantly stranger and more textured. Fennel brings its characteristic anise-like, herbaceous freshness, intertwined with the scent of iris and creamy ylang-ylang. Rosewood lends a refined, woody warmth to the heart note, and the radiance gradually deepens. Patchouli, cedarwood, and incense create an earthy, resinous atmosphere, while the scent of weathered leather emerges beneath it, much like the interior of an abandoned car, warmed by the sun, softened by time, and increasingly surrounded by leaves and branches.
Maya Njie’s Voyeur Verde is a perfume about transformation. It finds beauty not in untouched nature, but in that mesmerizing moment when nature reclaims human-made objects and slowly makes them its own once again.
Key notes: bergamot, mandarin, cypress, rosewood, fennel, iris, ylang-ylang, patchouli, leather, cedarwood, incense
Photographic inspiration: On a gently sloping hillside in the Spanish town of Pedramala, a faded Mercedes has been abandoned to nature’s elements. Beneath a thick and untamed green veil it rests, nearly invisible to the unobservant eye. Underneath the foliage, Liquorice leather interiors are sheltering from the midday sun.
