Day Three Fragrances Filosofía Extrait de Parfum is a sweet gourmand perfume covered in a light cigar smoke and built around a tantalizing duo of chocolate and hazelnut – a perfectly balanced perfume that was one of the sensations at the 2023 ScentXplore in New York. Despite its decadently edible notes, Filosofía is polished and poised, displaying its full-bodied gourmand elements behind a distant sheen. Restrained chocolate notes melt into a delicately smooth vanilla absolute, while a gentle, liqueur-like hazelnut sweetness is rounded out by a dash of ambery cypriol.

Thanks to its floating equilibrium of elements, Filosofía is a universal people pleaser – a gourmand that gains in strength from subtlety rather than extravagance. In the heart, laid-back Caribbean vibes are channelled by a ‘Dominican cigar’ accord that is deftly woven into the fragrance’s unique olfactive DNA. Yet as an extrait de parfum, Day Three Fragrances Filosofía has impressive longevity and a spiced twist of black pepper and cardamom gives a surprising vibration when worn on the skin. If the current buzz around this easygoing powerhouse is anything to go by, Filosofía may just be a modern classic in the making.
