Jorum Studio Elegy Extrait de Parfum is a nostalgic niche perfume inspired by the memory of a fading perfume once worn. Elegy’s olfactive DNA shares much heritage with vintage chypres playfully twisted with avant-garde surprises – something we have come to expect from Jorum Studio. Described by the trailblazing Scottish perfume house as an ‘aromatic déja vu’, Elegy captures the sense of perfumed flowers swirling over elegantly powdered skin. The opening is a profusion of prized perfume materials, thanks to a burst of earl-grey tinted bergamot and petitgrain, accompanied by the gentle warmth of peppery, cognac-tinged geranium.

The resulting trichord achieves the kind of intense beauty that only exists when it comes in fleeting form. Elegy’s initial floral shine fades as quickly as it appeared, evolving into a melancholic sigh of late summer honeysuckle and pollen-drunk heather absolute. Like a meta-perfume chronicling the beautiful transience of wearing and experiencing perfume, Jorum Studio Elegy is a scent with a built-in nostalgia. As the olfactive story arc unfolds on the skin, Elegy gently reveals a luxurious swathe of exotic and precious absolutes, musk and slow-burning resins which undulate in perfect harmony.

Elegy radiates an enduring and resilient hay absolute, while aged oud oil and cashmere-soft patchouli absolute extend a comforting consolation. A niche perfume of floral profusion, but like its namesake it is also a scent of serious reflection. The beautiful contrasts woven throughout Elegy express the soaring joys and deep sorrow that life entails.
