Description

Maya Njie Syrus (Eau de Parfum) is an ode to the enchanting scent of jasmine that appears at the end of summer, when the flower’s fragrance seems to float in the warm air and draws people in almost instinctively. Maya Njie associates the fragrance with Ricardo Bofill’s extraordinary, fortress-like structure, La Muralla Roja, located in the town of Calpe, Spain, on the Mediterranean coast. A landscape rich in vibrant colors, sun-drenched walls, and the scent of the sea. The result is as if, in the late afternoon as the sun slowly sets, we were following the scent of jasmine along the shoreline: floral, radiant, and slightly dreamlike.

Syrus opens with sparkling bergamot and soft peach, lending the jasmine sambac an immediate, juicy radiance. Lilac expands the floral heart notes, while iris adds a cool, powdery sophistication. Then the landscape begins to shift: sea salt and clary sage bring a green, aromatic breeze among the flowers, so the jasmine feels more wind-swept than lush or overly sweet. As the fragrance dries down, amber lends a mineral, leathery, salty note, while rosewood, Virginia cedar, and sandalwood create a soft warmth beneath it. Oakmoss darkens the base with an earthy, green undertone, adding unexpected depth to the airy, Mediterranean opening.

Maya Njie Syrus is about surrendering to attraction, whether it’s a perfume, a place, or an impulse. Like jasmine unexpectedly carried by the wind, it simply asks you to notice what’s calling you and follow it boldly.
