Mendittorosa Amygdala Extrait de Parfum is a complex floral bouquet which evocatively connects to the archaic forces inside us. Do we have a flower in the brain? Where the angels hesitate, in the depths of our most inner part. Within the innermost part of our brain lies the elusive and symbolic almond-shaped amygdala. It is there that the strongest and most profound emotions unfold in the form of an endless flowery field of light and violets, of mysteries and passions. A cranial exclave containing a universe of inexplicable beauty. This ia Amygdala.

In Amygdala Extrait de Parfum, ginger and coffee transmit energy and dynamism to the top notes, and in their extreme contrast they represent the flashes of emotional impulses. Here the glossy, spiced woodiness of pink peppercorn coalesces with bark-like cinnamon to trace the smooth-edged outlines of almond, Amygdala’s namesake. The buttery almond note is the perfect, blurry frame for the scent’s floral heart. Amygdala’s classically sophisticated core revolves around dreamlike jasmine, Egyptian violet absolute and orange blossom.

Ylang ylang alongside intense green galbanum conjure up exotic fruits so unlikely they seem tied to a land between memory and fantasy. Makebelieve clouds of passionfruit, tart peaches and cream hover above milky sweet sandalwood and balmy gaiacwood. Alongside its majestic complexity, Amygdala has the emotive innocence of a childhood confection. Rich, fruity, tangy, bittersweet and rose-tinted, is it remembered or imagined? Finally, to celebrate the amygdala’s role precisely in olfactive processing and in olfactive memory in particular, vetiver and labdanum form an enduring perfume duo that ensure never to be forgotten.

Amygdala Extrait de Parfum is part of Mendittorosa’s elite Extreme Talismans range. With 35% perfume concentration, it is deliberately extremely powerful, but at the same time disarming. The inspiration for this Talismans Extreme was born from the recent psychological-biological studies by Stefania Squeglia, the founder of Mendittorosa, who besides perfume creation also carries a Masters of Science in psychology.

To give olfactory structure to this synesthesia, Stefania again chose renowned nose Luca Maffei as the Master Perfumer for this work. In Amygdala Luca went beyond all expectations and beyond his own figures and boundaries. Letting himself be guided by a DTI image of our cerebral hemispheres, he was able to see an enormous iris flower. He immediately decided to concentrate and work around a complex and exciting floral arrangement. His cross-references between the raw materials is a tribute to the many neural interconnections we have in the brain. Amygdala releases a primordial force. An attractive force, which lifts us above good and evil and makes us float in the infinity. The immensity inside of our own brain.

For the bottle design of Amygdala Extrait de Parfum, goldsmith and sculptor, Carmine Borreli, known as Nibo, was chosen to give shape and matter to the cap. Each stone held within the filigree art-nouveau metalwork is unique.
