Rania J Ambre Loup Eau de Parfum is a warm oriental fragrance undulating between spices, resins and balsams to form a seductively smoky amber note. The scent opens with darkly resinous labdanum which blends with dense, musky ambergris to produce a thick and rich amber accord, humming with sexual allure. The tarry, almost visceral pairing of labdanum and ambergris is tamed by the mellow warmth of clove and cinnamon revealing the earthy sweetness of oriental spices. Meaning ‘amber wolf’ in French, Ambre Loup certainly connotes a semi-domesticated canine torn between its wooded wilderness and the shadowy perimeter of a ritual bonfire – still feral but curious about the ritual intimacies of humans.

Just as the dusk swallows the roaring red sky of the setting sun, Ambre Loup’s smouldering heart is an interplay of warm and dark elements. Here the sultry smokeyness of guaiac wood melds with moody labdanum resins to replicate the pitch black heat of tobacco leaf. The sensual tendrils of smoked tobacco soon dissipate leaving behind a smooth sweetness which veers into a deliciously gourmand amber. Labdanum’s dark toffee tones and the sticky treacle texture of peru balsam are enhanced by tonka bean, which lends its satisfying, vanilla-like warmth to the olfactory profile.
