Strangers Parfumerie Sombre (Eau de Parfum) is art beyond convention, an olfactory provocation, a visceral dive into the broken psyche of darkness. Philippe Grandrieux’s brutal experimental film, Sombre, inspired this creation, which pushes the boundaries of perfumery and transforms scent into raw emotions, tension, and psychological unrest.

Sombre is unsettling from its first breath, as the sparkle of champagne contrasts sharply with the somber events. A momentary illusion, like decadence before the fall. The acidity of the vomit accord shocks the senses, questioning the notion of what can and should be beautiful. Mold penetrates the musty scent of decay, rot, abandonment, and all-encompassing fear.

This is olfactory cinema – fragmented, captivating, and deeply unsettling.

In Strangers Parfumerie Sombre, the accord of nocturnal predators roams the heart, musky and animalic, instinctive and wild. Then comes the accord of pus, grotesque and unforgettable, evoking decay with a bold, apologetic purity. But amid the horror, moments of fragile beauty also appear: orris butter softens with powdery elegance, and night flowers such as jasmine and tuberose seduce with their intoxicating scent. The whisper of roses faintly recalls something that was once human.

In Sombre’s drydown, mud and sweat anchor the composition to the body. It is dirty, sensual, and carnal. This is not a comfortable scent; it is a confrontational perfume. Perfume as olfactory art: unsettling, captivating, and defiantly avant-garde. It does not seek to please. It strives to be felt.
