Description

Deux Trois Night Rider (Eau de Parfum) opens the road and the thrill of speed when staying put is no longer an option. This isn’t the kind of freedom evoked by a romantic sunset. This freedom bursts in at 2:17 a.m.: the engine running, nerves on edge, the city fading from the rearview mirrors. The asphalt is still warm. The smell of gasoline permeates the air. Exhaust fumes mingle with the fog. Tires screech on the road, while a leather jacket holds the last traces of another place.

Prin Lomros constructs the scent of Night Rider almost exclusively from raw materials that perfumery typically tries to conceal. Crude oil, gasoline, PVC, epoxy, exhaust fumes, and burnt rubber form a polluted urban landscape that is rough, synthetic, and, strangely enough, uplifting. Leather lends the fragrance its human silhouette: someone inside that machine, speeding along and refusing to turn back.

Here, there’s tension, and even greater momentum. The fragrance captures the moment when the pressure of a destructive relationship finally becomes so intense that it turns into a driving force. Staying hurts. Leaving hurts in a different way. It hardly matters whether it’s a motorcycle, a car, a highway, or an imaginary vehicle. The road becomes a transitional state where no one can reach you.

Night Rider consists of black surfaces that reflect artificial light. Industrial fumes that we breathe in as oxygen. The alluring, toxic effect of escape. Sometimes freedom doesn’t smell like fresh air. Sometimes it smells like burning rubber.
