Filippo Sorcinelli Quando Rapita in Estasi Extrait de Parfum is a warm and spicy oriental niche perfume from the house’s UNUM range and pays olfactory homage to one of the most iconic operatic roles of the 20th century. The scent opens loud and clear with a trademark Sorcinelli blend of incense – a masterpiece accord which has come to characterize the UNUM line. This time, however, the incense is overlain with sweet and smoky facets, which seem to hum with human emotion. This is an incense of spiritual celebration far removed from the solemn church variety. Smooth, smoky tendrils of incense in the top notes protectively envelope the fragrant furrows of lily of the valley while a husky blend of balsam fir and cedarwood offers a balsamic frame to the arrangement. Despite the scent’s hard hitting opening notes the composition remains perfectly balanced and harmonious, thanks to Sorcinelli’s talent for arranging scents with almost orchestral harmony.

The perfume’s sultry heart radiates oriental warmth thanks to just the right amount of nose numbing clove. Like molten embers oozing forth from the perfume’s core, a sweet peach note revels Quando Rapita in Estasi’s erotic resonance. A lusty bed of exotic resins and balsams unfurl at the base. Labdanum, incense resin and patchouli mingle with sweet tonka bean and vanilla for a resonant dry down which seems to smoulder on the skin. Filippo Sorcinelli Quando Rapita in Estasi Extrait de Parfum is inspired by the famous aria of the same name sung by Maria Callas in the 1952 La Scala production of Gaetano Donizetti’s classic opera Lucia de Lammermoor. Her role as the titular character set the opera world alight and cemented her position as one of the most iconic divas the stage has ever known.
This exquisite niche perfume is the perfect fragrance to match Callas’ larger than life personality and the distinctive timbre of her voice.
