Description
Maya Njie Les Fleurs (Eau de Parfum) is a sophisticated floral fragrance that celebrates growth, blossoming, and the coming to life. Inspired by Minnie Riperton’s 1970 song Les Fleurs, Maya Njie built this perfume around foliage and gardens. It is not a traditionally arranged bouquet, but rather evokes the sensation of greenery bursting into bloom. The family photograph accompanying the fragrance, taken in Västerås in 1969, depicts Njie’s sister, Anne-Sophie, and her uncle in their grandfather’s garden shed, linking this joyful botanical world with childhood, family, and Scandinavian nature.
Les Fleurs opens with a vibrant burst of bergamot that is crisp and almost leafy in its freshness. This is followed by the radiant citrus blossom of neroli, and then the fleshy fig introduces a softer, fruitier texture. Magnolia enriches the heart notes with a clean, slightly creamy floral quality, yet the composition never becomes heavy or traditionally feminine. Green stems and translucent trees seem to flow continuously beneath the flowers, lending the perfume an airy, freshly cut quality. As the scent dries down, floral musk softens everything without dampening the radiance, gently enveloping the fresh woody notes.
Maya Njie says Les Fleurs is about abundance and renewal. Just like the Minnie Riperton song that inspired it, the fragrance evokes a sense of optimism and expansiveness. It reminds us to notice growth, beauty, and possibilities as they unfold.
Key fragrance notes: bergamot, neroli, juicy fig, citrusy magnolia, floral musk, fresh wood
