Description
Maya Njie Nordic Cedar (Eau de Parfum) spicy-woody fragrance draws inspiration from the perfumer’s childhood landscapes and family memories in Sweden. The photograph accompanying the perfume, taken in Västerås in 1969, depicts Njie’s older sister, Anette, chatting with relatives in front of their grandfather’s garden cottage, a beloved place surrounded by open fields and boreal forest. Nordic Cedar was also Maya Njie’s first perfume; she originally blended it simply for herself. She wore it for years before this fragrance inspired her to pursue a career as a professional perfumer. It is like a scent portrait of Scandinavian nature: open, aromatic, earthy, and quietly soothing.
Nordic Cedar opens with a lively burst of cardamom, cool and aromatic, yet peppery and warm at the same time. The spice doesn’t drift toward sweetness but quickly permeates the patchouli, lending the fragrance a darker, damp-earth character. Cedarwood emerges with a dry, almost fibrous texture, evoking the sensation of forest air meeting sun-warmed wood. As Nordic Cedar dries down, its raw character gradually softens. Musk brings warmth and intimacy, while amber adds an airy, slightly mineral quality that prevents the woody notes from feeling heavy. The result remains intentionally wild: fresh and invigorating at first, then earthy, musky, and soothingly warm.
Maya Njie Nordic Cedar is about finding solace in the wilderness. A fragrance in which the forest, family, and memories become inseparable.
Key notes: cardamom, patchouli, musk, cedarwood, amber
