Rania J Oud Assam Eau de Parfum is a powerfully pungent oriental oud perfume refined by citrus, resins and woods. The niche perfume opens with the fragrant oils of bitter orange, sweet orange and bergamot. The citrus sourness is a fitting counterpart to the classical ‘barnyard’ and ‘medicinal’ attributes associated with oud, and elicits a dark, chocolaty facet in this most precious of perfume ingredients. Oud Assam’s heart is shockingly pure, which some may read as dirty, but the full force of its sensory clout is always cleverly attenuated by complimentary olfactory elements.

Oud Assam is the ideal scent for fragrance lovers who want to explore the depth and richness of natural oud, but who may not have much prior experience of this infatuating agarwood extract. The animalic and barnyard qualities of pure, high quality Indian oud are mellowed by a delicate framework of earthy vetiver, warm woods and oriental spice. Oud Assam’s base offers a sweet reward for those who persist as the intensity of oud in the raw gently fades like the setting sun on a steamy day. Resinous tones of olibanum radiate a haylike glow, while tonka bean and musk in the dry down exercise their sweet and creamy allure. What remains is a toned-down, tamed oud note lingering cozy and close to the skin, like a red sun straddling the Indian horizon.
